Budget for BISP has been increased to Rs 593 billion?
Islamabad: During the budget speech in the National Assembly, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb announced an increase in budgetary allocations for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) up to Rs. 593 billion, marking a 29 percent rise from last year. The increased funding aims to provide maximum relief to disadvantaged segments of society.

Under the Benazir Kafaalat scheme, the number of beneficiaries receiving quarterly stipends has been raised from 9.3 million to 10 million, with the stipend amounts adjusted to account for prevailing inflation. Additionally, around 100,000 more children will be enrolled in the Benazir Education stipend scheme, increasing the total number of stipend recipients to 10.4 million.

In the upcoming fiscal year, 500,000 more families will be included in the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, which focuses on preventing stunted growth in children during the first 1000 days of growth.

To enhance economic inclusion and improve financial conditions, BISP is launching the Poverty Graduation and Skill Development programme. Furthermore, a Hybrid Social Protection Programme is being introduced to promote financial independence among the poorer segments of society.
