Cancer Drugs Worth Rs 360 Million Stolen from Karachi Civil Hospital

Karachi: Cancer drugs worth Rs 360 million were allegedly stolen from Civil Hospital in Karachi.

A case has been registered in the Eidgah police station against several employees of the health department for their involvement in the theft of medicines.

The medical superintendent of civil hospital filed a complaint, revealing that 76,000 cancer tablets were stolen during the last 10 months. It is believed that two employees of the hospital, Niaz Khaskheli and Iqbal, are involved in the theft.

The drugs, which went missing between February 17 and September 26, 2023, have raised serious concerns about internal monitoring and security within the hospital.

The theft came to light after an inquiry was launched after complaints of medicines expiring earlier than expected.

The police authorities are currently conducting raids to arrest those involved in this crime.
