World Bank and Punjab Government Join Forces for Agricultural Prosperity: PHHSA

In a groundbreaking move, the Pakistan Hitech Hybrid Seed Association (PHHSA) Chairman, Shahzad Ali Malik, has announced a collaborative effort between the World Bank and the Punjab Government, aiming to bring unprecedented prosperity to farmers by ensuring bumper crops. Malik, while addressing a delegation of progressive farmers, revealed that the World Bank has reaffirmed its dedication to fostering a sustainable agricultural revolution in Punjab through a transformative partnership with the provincial government.

According to a news release, a recent visit by a delegation from the World Bank's Review Mission to Multan marked a significant milestone in the implementation of the "Revolutionary Plan for Sustainable Agricultural Development" in the province. Malik highlighted that the primary objective of the visit was to inspect the strategic deployment of modern drip and solar systems across the region.

The chairman emphasized that this collaboration, part of a five-year project with a total cost of Rs 68 billion, includes a substantial contribution of Rs 45 billion from the World Bank. Shahzad Ali Malik, honored with Sitar-I-Imtiaz, expressed confidence that the project would revolutionize the agricultural landscape in the region. He elaborated that the initiative is not only geared towards mitigating the impacts of climate change but also introducing modern irrigation systems, fostering an attractive environment for private sector investments, and facilitating the growth of profitable agriculture.

One noteworthy aspect is that over 1.3 million rural farmer families are expected to directly benefit from this extensive project, which is poised to create a ripple effect of positive change in the agricultural sector.
