In a recent development, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced an increase in the power tariff by Rs0.40 per unit. The adjustment, applicable for the month of September, is set to reflect in consumers' bills for November. Notably, this increment will not be applicable to K-Electric and lifeline clients, providing them with an exemption from the tariff adjustment.

This decision follows a substantial hike in power tariffs for K-Electric customers on October 6, where Nepra raised the rates by a significant Rs4.45 per unit. As per the regulatory body's statement, this adjustment is part of the first-quarter review of the previous fiscal year, with payments to power customers scheduled for October and November.

The notification further reveals that the power tariff for K-Electric consumers has been elevated from Rs 1.49 to Rs 4.45 per unit. Nepra had greenlighted this increase on September 27. The ongoing adjustments aim to address various factors impacting the power sector, contributing to the sustained financial viability of the energy infrastructure.
