According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the monthly inflation rate in June was 29.40%, reflecting a modest decrease from May 2023.

According to the most recent data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the inflation rate for the month of June was 29.40%, signifying a rise of 8.1 percent over the previous year.

Meanwhile, the May inflation rate was reported to be 38%, predicting a modest decrease in June. Despite this slight improvement, the country is entrenched in a high inflation environment that is eroding individuals’ purchasing power.

Digging deeper into the statistics, the research reveals that metropolitan areas saw an inflation rate of 27.3%, while rural areas experienced an inflation rate of 32.4%, demonstrating the vulnerability of agricultural communities to develop living costs.

When comparing the current situation to the previous year, the Bureau of Statistics finds that the inflation rate was 21.3% in June of last year. This represents a significant year-on-year increase, underscoring the severity of the current inflationary situation.
