Pakistan and Japan Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Pakistan and Japan agreed on Monday to expand their bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas, including commerce, investment, and information technology.

This was said by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during a joint press conference today in Tokyo with his Japanese colleague Hayashi Yoshimasa.

He further stated that the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in mutually beneficial people-to-people interaction, human resource development, tourism, and agriculture areas.

According to the foreign minister, Pakistan, and Japan has also agreed to look into ways to collaborate on specific programmes such as solarization, desalination, water purification, and the rehabilitation of housing structures in flood-affected parts of Pakistan.

The two sides agreed to conduct language skills assessment tests for the Japanese language in Pakistan to facilitate the export of a skilled workforce.

FM Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said we have also deliberated on scores of joint ventures by Japanese enterprises in Pakistan.
