In a historic endeavor, Pakistan is preparing to host the inaugural Global Health Security Summit on January 10-11, 2024, addressing the pressing challenges posed by global health threats, as revealed in a press release issued today.

Highlighting the interconnected nature of human, animal, and environmental health, the Global Health Security Summit, scheduled to convene in Islamabad, represents a pivotal moment in the ongoing global initiatives to reinforce the one health concept.

Distinguished speakers, including health ministers and globally recognized experts in global health security, have been invited by the government to participate in the event.

Attendees will have a unique opportunity to partake in insightful discussions and contribute to shaping a comprehensive Islamabad Declaration, which will be issued at the conclusion of the Summit.

During the Summit's inauguration, Dr. Nadeem Jan, the Federal Minister for NHSRC, emphasized a shared vision where health security is considered a universal right, and a nation's health system strength is gauged not only by its crisis response capabilities but also by its proficiency in preventing, detecting, and mitigating health threats.

“The vision of the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) is not a mere theoretical construct; it is a shared commitment to building robust and resilient public health systems worldwide. Pakistan has been a dedicated supporter of GHSA, steering collective efforts towards a safer and more secure world,” added the minister.

He further stressed the significance of multisectoral collaboration, underlining the critical interplay of health, environment, agriculture, and security.

"This challenge knows no borders; it is a shared responsibility that demands a collective response," he emphasized.
