Pakistan sees massive 119% increase in brain drain

Islamabad: The inflow of remittances through Roshan Digital Accounts (RDA) reached US $8.055 billion by the end of May 2024, up from US $7.831 billion at the end of April 2024, according to the latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

In April, remittance inflows were US $224 million, compared to US $171 million in March and US $182 million in February 2024.

Roshan Digital Accounts offer innovative banking solutions to millions of Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs), including holders of Non-Resident Pakistan Origin Cards (POCs), enabling them to perform banking, payment, and investment activities in Pakistan.

The number of RDA accounts increased by 12,960, reaching 702,610 in May 2024, up from 689,650 in April 2024.

By the end of May, overseas Pakistanis had invested US $338 million in Naya Pakistan Certificates, US $582 million in Naya Pakistan Islamic Certificates, and US $37 million in Roshan Equity Investment.

The State Bank introduced the Roshan Digital Account to facilitate overseas Pakistanis in sending remittances and investing in Pakistan.
