Pakistan and UAE Forge Historic Economic Ties with Multi-Billion Dollar MoUs
With a substantial 1.8 million Pakistanis residing in the UAE, contributing significantly to the progress and prosperity of both nations, the meeting recognized the pivotal role of this expatriate community in fostering economic development.
ISLAMABAD: In a significant diplomatic move, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar engaged in a bilateral meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Abu Dhabi. The meeting, attended by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), highlighted the enduring fraternal ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
Both leaders emphasized the historic and robust nature of the relationship, expressing their commitment to further fortify bilateral strategic cooperation and dialogue. Prime Minister Kakar extended deep gratitude for the UAE's unwavering support to Pakistan in economic and financial domains.
Beyond bilateral matters, the leaders delved into regional and global issues, particularly addressing the concerning human rights and humanitarian situation in occupied Palestine. Prime Minister Kakar voiced Pakistan's support for a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian question, grounded in international law and aligned with relevant United Nations and OIC resolutions.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan's full support for the UAE's Presidency for COP 28, highlighting its significance in advancing global actions to mitigate climate impact, including the establishment of the Loss and Damage Fund.
The meeting culminated in the signing of multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and the UAE, spanning investment cooperation in diverse sectors such as energy, port operations projects, waste water treatment, food security, logistics, minerals, and banking & financial services. These MoUs, seen as a watershed moment, are poised to unlock multi-billion dollars of UAE investment into Pakistan, aligning with the initiatives envisioned under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
Prime Minister Kakar hailed the signing of these MoUs as a historic event, ushering in a new era of economic partnership between Pakistan and the UAE.
