Have Transporters Reduced Fares Following Petrol Price Drop?

LAHORE: In response to a decrease in petroleum product prices, transporters in Lahore have announced a reduction in fares ranging from 5 per cent to 7 per cent.

This move follows a directive from Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, who urged transport companies to lower fares to reflect the reduced fuel costs.

As a result, several major routes have seen a noticeable decrease in ticket prices. The fare for travel from Lahore to Karachi has been reduced from PKR 6,600 to PKR 6,550. Similarly, the fare to Islamabad has dropped from PKR 2,100 to PKR 2,000.

Other significant reductions include the fare to Mansehra, which has been cut from PKR 2,600 to PKR 2,500, and the fare to Hyderabad, now at PKR 6,050 down from PKR 6,100.

The fare to Rahim Yar Khan has been adjusted from PKR 3,100 to PKR 3,050, while the ticket price to Bahawalpur is now PKR 2,050, reduced from PKR 2,100. Lastly, the fare for Peshawar has been lowered from PKR 2,500 to PKR 2,450.

These fare reductions are expected to provide some financial relief to commuters and are a direct outcome of the government’s proactive measures to pass on the benefits of decreased fuel prices to the public.
