‘No helmet, no petrol’ notification suspended in Lahore

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday halted the deputy commissioner of Lahore's "No helmet, no petrol" declaration, which was a significant development.

The deputy commissioner forbade the sale of gasoline to motorcycle riders who did not wear helmets in a notification. Additionally, it was made clear to the gas stations that disobeying the rules would result in sanctions.

The Lahore High Court annulled the deputy commissioner's announcement after expressing extreme concern over the circumstance. The LHC court ruled that there is no law prohibiting the sale of gasoline to motorcycle riders who are not wearing helmets.

The court declared such a command to be unconstitutional, highlighting the need to uphold peoples' fundamental rights in a just and equal manner.

The deputy commissioner, IG of Punjab, and CCPO of Lahore were all required to respond after the LHC determined that the notification was unlawful.

The decision was made after the court formally requested input from the federal government and other pertinent parties in a notice it sent to them.
