K-Electric Acknowledges Challenges in Executing Integration Plan

In a recent development, K-Electric has conveyed its challenges in carrying out the approved integration plan, citing an inability to provide feedback on the test-run report.

In response to the test-run report submitted by CPPA-G, K-Electric has requested distinct discussions with CPPA-G and NEPRA on the integration plan, aligning with the agreement reached with CPPA-G.

The report, which received approval from the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) and subsequent ratification by the Cabinet, has faced obstacles in its implementation according to K-Electric.

On May 31, 2022, NEPRA's determination outlined key points, including granting a Market Operator (MO) license to CPPA-G, approving the market commercial code for the test run, and endorsing a six-month test run plan.

The detailed test plan assigned specific responsibilities to relevant entities within the power sector, with CPPA-G designated as the central coordinator/facilitator for the plan's implementation.

Within NEPRA's determination (Section H), CPPA-G was directed to submit a comprehensive test-run report to the authority in collaboration with relevant power sector entities. Throughout the test run phase, CPPA-G conducted consultative sessions to address findings and observations.

Consequently, CPPA-G compiled a final test-run report in consultation with pertinent power sector entities. This report provides an overall status update on the test run phase, covering activities from June 2022 onwards.

To move forward, CPPA-G has submitted the final test-run report documents to NEPRA for review. These documents include the final test-run report and a revised market commercial code, incorporating proposed amendments based on the conclusions of the final report.
