The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications has reported significant advancements in the Information Technology (IT) industry over the past four months.

During the interim administration, strategic policy measures implemented by the government have resulted in a remarkable 13% growth in IT and ITeS exports, signifying a positive turn for the industry.

To further support IT services firms, specialized foreign currency accounts have been introduced, and ongoing training programs for IT skills are currently benefiting 200,000 university graduates.

A noteworthy development is the facilitation of international transactions for Pakistani freelancers through PayPal.

In an effort to modernize the telecom industry and foster a conducive environment for capitalism, the government is committed to launching 5G. Additionally, the approval of Pakistan's first National Space Policy aims to provide affordable internet services through private-sector initiatives.

Key telecom initiatives introduced include the establishment of a Telecom Tribunal and the implementation of a Telecom Infrastructure Sharing Policy.

To encourage startups, the government has inaugurated the Pakistan Startup Fund (PSF), presenting co-investment opportunities and an International Startup Exchange Program. Dr. Umar Saif, the Federal Minister of IT & Telecom, and Science & Technology anticipates a yearly value creation of Rs50bn in the startup ecosystem through this program.

These comprehensive initiatives collectively strive to fuel growth and innovation within the IT industry.

Dr. Umar Saif expressed contentment with the progress, emphasizing that "where there is a will, there is a way."
