Govt stopped issuance of 100-page passports

According to an official announcement from the Passport Office, the government has declared a temporary halt on the issuance of 100-page passports.

While the Passport Office apologized for any difficulty, it explained that this decision is part of the Directorate General (DG) of Immigration and Passports’ aim to implement electronic passports (e-passports) nationally.

Following the federal government’s issuance of e-passports in June, this transition began in Islamabad and has since been extended to all passport offices across the country.

New fee schedules for e-passports have been established as of August 16, 2023, while fees for traditional passports will stay unchanged.

  • The standard fee for a 36-page passport with a 5-year validity period is set at Rs. 9,000.
  • For those in need of expedited passport processing, an urgent e-passport option is available at a cost of Rs. 15,000.
  • If you require a larger 72-page e-passport and are opting for regular processing, the fee for this service is Rs. 16,500.
  • For urgent processing of the 72-page e-passport, there is a higher fee of Rs. 27,000.
  • For individuals seeking a 36-page passport with an extended 10-year validity, the standard fee stands at Rs. 13,500.
  • If expedited service is necessary for this 36-page, 10-year passport, the fee is increased to Rs. 22,500.
  • Additionally, those desiring a 72-page passport with a 10-year validity will be charged a standard fee of Rs. 24,750, with the option for urgent processing available at a fee of Rs. 40,500.

The government’s decision to temporarily suspend the issuance of 100-page passports aligns with their efforts to streamline passport services and introduce more secure electronic passports, ultimately enhancing the travel experience for Pakistani citizens.
