Eidul Azha 2024: Early Announcement of Salary Advances

Islamabad: Ahead of Eid ul-Adha 2024, the Punjab government has announced an early disbursement of salaries for public sector employees.

This move, spearheaded by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aims to alleviate financial pressures on government workers during the festive season.

The Finance Department is already in motion, ensuring that salaries will be released by June 13, 2024. This proactive step is anticipated to provide relief to employees grappling with increased expenses amidst escalating inflation.

Eid ul-Adha, a significant Islamic occasion, symbolizes the willingness of Hazrat Ibrahim to obey Allah by sacrificing his son. Traditionally, Muslims mark the event by performing animal sacrifices, with goats, sheep, cows, and camels being the usual choices. Special markets are set up for the purchase of sacrificial animals, where buyers meticulously select healthy specimens meeting religious criteria.

The sacrificial meat is divided into three parts: one for the family, another for relatives and friends, and the remaining portion for the less fortunate, underscoring principles of charity and communal support.

In alignment with the official 2024 holiday calendar, Eid ul-Adha holidays in Pakistan are slated from June 17 to 19. Considering that government offices typically observe weekends off (Saturdays and Sundays), the Eid holidays will essentially commence from June 15.
