Bangladesh Reviews Bids for 50,000 Tons of Wheat in Recent Tender

HAMBURG: The recent international tender initiated by Bangladesh's state grains buyer to acquire and import 50,000 metric tons of wheat has concluded, with the lowest offer assessed at $315.29 per ton liner out, as reported by European traders.

The leading bid in this tender is believed to have come from Agrocorp International, a prominent trading house. Other competitive offers, per ton liner out, were reported from MC Food at $316.16, Cereal Crops at $320.00, and Grain Flower at $319.00. The CIF (cost insurance freight) liner out terms encompass ship unloading costs for the seller.

According to the terms of the tender, shipment is expected to occur 40 days after the date of contract signing. The wheat can be sourced from any global origin, excluding Israel, and is intended for shipment to two ports, Chattogram and Mongla. While offers are still under consideration, no official purchase has been reported yet, as per information from traders.

Bangladesh typically takes its time to confirm wheat purchases, and decisions are not made immediately. The country's approach involves careful consideration before finalizing such significant transactions.

It is essential to note that assessments from traders form the basis of the current reports, and additional details regarding prices and volumes may become available in the coming weeks.

This tender follows a previous one for 50,000 tons of wheat, which concluded on December 12. Notably, Bangladesh canceled and withdrew another tender for 50,000 tons of wheat that was initially set to close on December 27.
