Submarine cable fault slows down internet speed in Pakistan

Faults in the submarine cable that powers Internet services in Pakistan have disrupted speed nationwide several times in the recent few days.

According to reports in the local media, experts claim that five cuts in the fiber optic cable that connects Singapore to Pakistan and Europe have been made; the repairs are expected to take approximately one month.

Internet connectivity from the east has been blocked, according to sources from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), making it extremely difficult for consumers in the South Asian country to use the internet.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said that some users in the country may experience slower internet speeds. Less than 10% of all internet traffic, according to PTCL sources, comes from the east, and they intend to switch to other sources to enable seamless surfing.

Users of Transworld and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd. (PTCL) are experiencing difficulties.
