Stock Market Begins Cautiously Following Nearly 700-point Loss

Islamabad: Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a significant decline on Wednesday, with its benchmark KSE-100 index closing at 74,836.30 points, reflecting a drop of 681.19 points.

On Thursday, the market opened cautiously, maintaining yesterday's closing levels following the previous day's substantial loss.

The KSE-100 index fluctuated during the trading session, ranging within 907.21 points. It reached an intraday high of 75,667.31 points, up by 149.82 points from the previous close, and a low of 74,760.10 points, marking a decline of 757.39 points.

The total trading volume for the KSE-100 index stood at 192.58 million shares.

Several sectors, including E&P, commercial banks, fertilizer, cement, and technology & communication, contributed to dragging the index down. Conversely, sectors such as leather & tanneries, chemicals, insurance, and tobacco provided some support to the index.
