The closing bell on Wednesday saw the KSE-100 index concluding the trading day at 63,919.85, experiencing a marginal decrease of 250.73 points or 0.39%.

Throughout the day, the index fluctuated within a range of 677.31 points, reaching an intraday high of 64,550.94 (+380.37) and a low of 63,873.63 (-296.94) points.

Among the 100 index companies, 35 registered gains, 58 faced losses, 5 remained unchanged, and 2 remained untraded.

Major contributors to the index's decline were Commercial Banks with 123.23 points, Fertilizer with 78.83 points, Cement with 29.23 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 18.43 points, and Power Generation & Distribution with 14.15 points.

Conversely, the index found support from Tobacco with 30.2 points, Automobile Assembler with 17.39 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 15.54 points, Synthetic & Rayon with 2.29 points, and Transport with 1.71 points.

Leading companies dragging the index down included MEBL with 49.29 points, ENGRO with 45.2 points, BAHL with 42.39 points, EFERT with 30.69 points, and UBL with 15.19 points.

On the positive side, companies contributing to index gains were PAKT with 30.2 points, PPL with 24.78 points, INDU with 20.22 points, FFBL with 5.77 points, and MCB with 4.41 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 43,192.37, reflecting a net gain of 57.74 points.

Total market volume stood at 636.168 million shares, surpassing the previous session's 448.991 million shares. The traded value recorded an increase, reaching Rs17.98 billion, up by Rs5.70 billion.

It's worth noting that the KSE-100 has witnessed a remarkable gain of 22,467 points or 54.2% during the fiscal year, while the ongoing calendar year has seen a cumulative increase of 1,469 points, equivalent to 2.35%.
