Prime Minister Invites Chinese Firms to Develop Textile Sector in Pakistan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited Chinese companies, especially those in the textile sector, to establish their industry in Pakistan, assuring them of full support from his government.

During a meeting focused on enhancing Pakistan-China cooperation, the prime minister emphasized that China is a crucial partner in Pakistan's development. He expressed a desire to expand collaboration in agriculture, information technology, and energy, alongside boosting exports to China.

Various ministries presented proposals to strengthen the Pakistan-China economic relationship, as per a press release from the PM Office.

The prime minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing robust security for Chinese nationals working in Pakistan, highlighting that a comprehensive security plan is in place. He informed the attendees that preparations are underway for the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and expressed optimism that with China's cooperation, Gwadar Port would evolve into a logistics hub.

PM Sharif mentioned that the second phase of CPEC would include the creation of Agriculture Demonstration Zones. He directed the ministries to gear up for launching new projects in collaboration with China and to enhance business-to-business linkages. He also noted that China could help Pakistan devise a strategy to increase its exports.

The meeting was attended by several ministers, the special assistant to the PM, the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, and other senior officials. APP
