PM Shehbaz Sharif Affirms Determination to Overcome Challenges

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to overcome challenges during his address at the passing out parade held at the Pakistan Air Force’s Asghar Khan Academy.

He emphasized that the country’s progress was a result of making difficult decisions, even at the cost of political capital. Despite the global economic crisis impacting various sectors of Pakistani society, the premier vowed not to leave the inflation-weary population at the mercy of disruptions in global markets.

He emphasized the need to build resilience and protect the economy from global shocks by implementing structural reforms for long-term sustainability. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also reaffirmed his support for the Charter of Economy, highlighting the government’s efforts to bring the economy back on track.

Addressing the issue of peace, the prime minister emphasized Pakistan’s desire to maintain friendly relations with all countries, especially neighboring nations. However, he emphasized that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be misunderstood as a weakness.

He stressed that a just and fair settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in line with the UN aspirations and the wishes of the people of Kashmir, was crucial for lasting peace in South Asia. The prime minister condemned the human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and urged the international community to take note of the illegal changes made by India post-August 2019.

Reflecting on the challenges faced by Pakistan over the past two decades, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the nation for standing united with the armed forces to defeat anti-Pakistan forces. He expressed unwavering belief in the capabilities of the armed forces and their dedication to protecting national security.

The prime minister praised the armed forces, including the air force, police, and intelligence community, for their outstanding efforts in countering terrorism, extremism, and militancy. He specifically mentioned the exemplary response of the Pakistan Air Force to Indian aggression in February 2019, highlighting the bravery, skill, and expertise displayed by the PAF in defending the country’s airspace.

The ceremony concluded with the prime minister reviewing the parade and presenting awards to the cadets. The PAF’s Sherdil Squadron also showcased a splendid air display during the event. Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, and other civil and military officials were present to witness the ceremony alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
