PKR Falls More against the USD, Losing 21 Paisa

In the interbank session on Thursday, the value of the Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by more than 21 paisas against the US dollar, finishing at PKR 280.09 against the US dollar, down from PKR 279.88 per USD the day before.

The intraday high (bid) and low (ask) for the local unit were 280.2 and 280.15, respectively.

The local unit remained constant in the open market, with exchange companies quoting the dollar at 279 for purchase and 282 for sale.

It is noteworthy to note that the PKR has now lost four straight sessions against the US dollar.

The Pakistan Rupee appreciated 1.04 rupees in relation to the euro, closing at 295.53 as opposed to 296.56 earlier in the day.

The British Pound closed at 338.73, down from 339.99 the day before, a decrease of 1.26 rupees.

The Swiss franc closed at 311.84, down 1.23 rupees from the previous session's ending of 313.07.

PKR gained 0.56 paisa against the Japanese Yen, closing at 1.862 versus 1.867 the previous day.

The Chinese Yuan closed at 38.27, up 1.07 paisa from the previous session's closing of 38.2593.

The value of the Saudi Riyal increased by 4.82 paisa from its closing value of 74.61 the previous day to 74.66.

The value of the U.A.E. Dirham rose from 76.2 a day earlier to 76.257, a gain of 5.73 paisa.

The value of the PKR has increased by 5.9 rupees, or 2.11%, versus the US dollar during the current fiscal year. In contrast, the value of the PKR has decreased by 19.16%, or 53.66 rupees, this calendar year.

The benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates in the money market decreased by 2 basis points to 21.75% and 22%.
