In an ongoing tussle between Pakistan International Airline (PIA) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) over outstanding payments, the national carrier has incurred a staggering Rs700 million in losses.

Flight operations of PIA were only partially restored recently, following a hard-fought agreement with PSO to resolve their dues dispute. However, this compromise comes on the heels of significant financial setbacks.

Sources reveal that the disruption in flight operations resulted in a loss of over Rs700 million, affecting more than 65 domestic and international flights that were unable to take off on a particular Sunday.

Ultimately, PIA managed to resume flights from Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Multan to Jeddah, along with an Islamabad to Riyadh flight, once the agreement was finally reached.

In the midst of these turbulent developments, the PIA CBA Union People's Unity convened an emergency meeting to voice their condemnation of PSO for their refusal to provide fuel to PIA flights. The union's president was unequivocal in his warning that the privatization of PIA would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

In light of these challenges, passengers planning to travel with PIA are strongly advised to verify the status of their flights by contacting the airline beforehand.
