Pakistan's Liquid Foreign Reserves Surge to $12.8 Billion

In a positive development for the Pakistan economy, the country's total liquid foreign reserves have reached an impressive $12,855.7 million. According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the central bank's reserves played a significant role in this increase, soaring to $7,757.1 million in the week ending December 22, 2023.

The noteworthy surge of $852 million in SBP's reserves is attributed primarily to official Government of Pakistan inflows during the same week. Simultaneously, commercial banks' net foreign reserves contributed to the overall total, standing at $5,098.6 million.

This substantial rise comes on the heels of the previous week's total liquid foreign reserves, which amounted to $12,068.4 million.

The boost in reserves reflects a positive trend for Pakistan's economic stability and resilience. As the central bank continues to receive significant inflows from the government, it provides a solid foundation for addressing economic challenges.

With this surge in foreign reserves, Pakistan is better positioned to navigate uncertainties in the global economic landscape. The increase signifies confidence in the country's economic policies and strengthens its ability to meet international financial obligations.
