Pakistan's Ambitious Plan to Increase Labor Force Deployment in Saudi Arabia, A Promising Partnership

Islamabad 10/16/2023:  Jawad Sohrab Malik, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, recently held a high-level meeting with Saudi Arabian Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki. The aim? To unlock a world of opportunities in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.

A Vision for Growth:

Malik didn't mince words; he urged Saudi Arabia to harness the potential of over a million Pakistani workers. These workers, armed with a range of skills, could play a pivotal role in realizing the ambitious goals of Vision 2030.

During the meeting, Malik pointed out that about 500,000 Pakistanis migrate to Saudi Arabia each year. He made a compelling case for this number to skyrocket, surpassing the million-worker mark.

Malik stressed the need for a diverse workforce, blending skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers from Pakistan. This, he argued, would enable Saudi Arabia to meet its diverse employment needs effectively.

A Commitment to Progress:

SAPM Malik reiterated Pakistan's commitment to equipping over a million workers with the skills required to fill the positions created under the transformative Vision 2030 program.

He also highlighted Pakistan's efforts to cultivate a skilled labor force, harnessing the immense potential of the country's youth in sectors like digitization, services, and tourism.

Malik praised Saudi Arabia for its consistent support to Pakistan across economic, strategic, and bilateral spheres.

In response, the Saudi envoy expressed his support for the proposal to enhance Pakistan's workforce presence in the Saudi labor market.

Future Collaborations:

Both sides enthusiastically agreed to continue discussions about potential employment opportunities for Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia. These discussions will be furthered in an upcoming meeting between SAPM and the Saudi labor minister, alongside other high-ranking officials from the Kingdom.
