Pakistan Successfully Launches Second Satellite 'PAKSAT MM-1'

Islamabad: Pakistan has launched its second communication satellite, PAKSAT MM-1, aimed at boosting the country’s digital communication infrastructure. The satellite was launched from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XSLC) and will orbit 36,000 km above Earth.

PAKSAT MM-1, weighing five tonnes, features advanced communication technology. The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) stated that the satellite will play a crucial role in developing an advanced communication network, meeting the growing demands of Pakistan’s telecom sector.

According to Express News, a SUPARCO official mentioned that the satellite would take three to four days to stabilize in its designated orbit. "Its advanced capabilities will cater to the increasing demand for high-speed internet and seamless connectivity," the official noted.

The high-power multi-mission satellite will provide communication services in C, Ku, and Ka bands, as well as SBAS services in the L band.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation on this achievement, stating, "I, along with the entire nation, am proud of our scientists’ accomplishment."

A spokesperson added, "This milestone is a stepping stone in transforming Pakistan into a digital nation. The satellite will offer a range of communication services, including broadband internet, TV broadcasting, mobile banking, and VSAT connectivity."

This successful launch marks a significant advancement in Pakistan’s space capabilities and highlights the growing cooperation between Pakistan and China in space exploration and technology.
