Pakistan introduces Rs 300,000/Kg red & purple Miyazaki mangoes

Karachi: Karachi farmer Ghulam Hashim Noorani has achieved ground-breaking success in cultivating Miyazaki mangoes, the world’s most expensive mangoes.

Miyazaki, which are renowned for their exceptional quality and high market value, have been cultivated in Malir, Karachi.

The first arrival of red and purple ‘Miyazaki’ mangoes in Karachi, Pakistan, has caused excitement, with the exotic fruit fetching Rs 300,000 per kg.

Originating from Japan, these prized mangoes are now being cultivated in the scorching sun of Karachi. While Pakistan’s annual mango season usually showcases popular varieties such as Chonsa, Sindhiri, Langra, Dasheri, and Anwar Rathore, the arrival of the Miyazaki mango signals a significant change in the country’s mango industry.

A local farmer shared insight into the uniqueness of Miyazaki mangoes, noting their vibrant red and purple colors, which set them apart from traditional yellow mangoes. Moreover, their distinctive flavor profile adds to their appeal.

In international markets, Miyazaki mango fetches $800 to $900 per kg, while in Pakistan it costs Rs 250,000 to Rs 300,000 per kg.

Originally introduced on a trial basis, the successful cultivation of Miyazaki mangoes in Karachi has paved the way for wider production across the country.

Appreciating the fertile soil of Karachi’s Malir region, the grower expressed optimism about the future of Miyazaki mango cultivation in Pakistan, citing the region’s abundant crop potential.
