Pakistan-China Joint Consultative Meeting Emphasizes CPEC

ISlamabad: A high-level joint consultative meeting between Pakistan and China was held today, focusing on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a key element of bilateral relations and regional development.

The meeting included political parties from Pakistan and a Chinese delegation led by Liu Jianchao, Chinese Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) and member of the Communist Party’s Central Committee.

The Chinese delegation, invited by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, arrived for a three-day visit from June 20-22. Dar welcomed the delegation, stating that CPEC represents a new vision of cooperation between Pakistan and China, promoting social and sustainable development, as well as regional cooperation.

He emphasized that all political parties in Pakistan support CPEC, highlighting its role as the first project under the Belt and Road initiative launched from Pakistan. CPEC has brought investments, particularly in the energy sector, and created development and employment opportunities in the country.

Discussions also covered the broader economic situation and CPEC's positive impact on Pakistan’s social and economic development. The Chinese delegation praised the political consensus in Pakistan regarding CPEC.

Chinese Minister Jianchao reaffirmed the strong ties between the two nations, noting that China prioritizes Pakistan in its foreign policy and supports the timely completion of ongoing CPEC projects.

Dar highlighted the success of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China, during which several agreements were signed, further strengthening bilateral ties.

Both sides agreed to maintain high-level contacts and enhance communication on regional and global issues. Jianchao expressed a desire to expand ties between the political parties of both countries, ensuring sustained cooperation and mutual development.
