Margalla Hills hiking trails no longer safe as dacoits loot eight people, including foreigner

ISLAMABAD: The federal capital has seen a surge in criminal activities including snatching of valuable items and now Margalla Hills hiking trails are no longer safe for citizens. Islamabad police seem failed to control crime in the city as bandits are unconstrained in the city.

In a recent event, eight people including a foreign woman tourist robbed in the Shah Allah Ditta area of Golra police station. Dacoits held tourists at gunpoint snatched their mobiles and demanded money.

A foreign woman tourist was visiting Taxila Stupa when she and her Pakistani companions were robbed. Tourists were parking their vehicles in Shah Allah Ditta and were preparing to hike towards the Stupa.

All were under the control of bandits for almost six hours and police were nowhere seen. The tourists saved their lives after withdrawing one hundred and twenty thousand rupees from the ATM and handing it over to the robbers.


According to the police, tourists were kept near the stupa in Taxila jurisdiction. The foreign woman belongs to the Swiss Embassy, the police said

Islamabad Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) of the incident and started an investigation into the matter. So many such cases happen around Shah Allah Ditta and D-12 etc.
