Karachi Reportedly Faces Over Rs. 3 Billion Loss in a Day Due to Business Closure

The decision by the Sindh government to enforce a lockdown in Karachi during the visit of the Iranian president has stirred discontent among numerous traders.

On Tuesday, the government declared a province-wide holiday, resulting in closures of prominent shopping hubs like the Saddar shopping centers and the electronics market on MA Jinnah Road. While some grain markets and clothing stores were permitted partial operation, foot traffic remained sluggish.

Traders are apprehensive about financial losses, estimating potential daily losses of approximately Rs 3.5 billion. They are urging the government to devise a coherent strategy to sustain business activities with minimal disruption.
