India releases 1,85,000 cusecs water into ravi river

As the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a high flood alert, India has discharged 1,85,000 cusecs of water into the Ravi River.

“Indian river authorities have released 1,85,000 cusecs of water into the Ravi River from the Ujh Barrage,” according to the PDMA notice.

According to PDMA, Indian authorities released 1,73,000 cusecs of water into the river last year.

According to the PDMA, “last year, one-third of the water released by India, approximately 60,000 cusecs, reached Jassar.” “Which had pushed the water level (in Ravi at the gauging point) to an all-time low,” PDMA explained.

“A water flow of 65,000 cubic feet per second is expected within 20 to 24 hours.” The regions surrounding Ravi should be on high alert in case of an emergency, according to the PDMA.

The disaster management authority advised district administrations to build up relief camps in low-lying sensitive locations and to keep prepared with machinery and teams for rescue and relief operations.

Chenab River

The Chenab River was surging near Qadirabad Headworks, with 79,064 cusecs inflow and 48,064 cusecs outflow recorded.

Water input at Marala Headworks in Chenab was 1,14,230 cusecs, while outflow was 98,430 cusecs, while at Khanki Headworks, inflow was 83,740 cusecs and outflow was 76,736 cusecs.
