In Wednesday's interbank trading, the value of the Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by 45.2 paisa versus the US dollar, finishing at PKR 279.88 after closing at PKR 279.43 the day before.

An intraday high (bid) of 280 and a low (ask) of 279.4 were recorded in the local unit.

Exchange businesses offered the dollar at 279 for buying and 282 for selling on the open market, which resulted in a 50 paisa loss for the local unit from the previous closure of 278.5 for buying and 281.5 for selling.

It is noteworthy to note that the PKR has now lost three straight sessions against the US dollar.

The PKR increased by 87.64 paisa against the Euro relative to major currencies, finishing at 296.56 from the previous value of 297.44.

The British Pound closed at 339.99, down from 342.53 the previous day, a decrease of 2.54 rupees.

The Swiss franc closed at 313.07, down 19.53 paisa from the previous session's finish of 313.26.

PKR increased by 0.14 paisa against the Japanese Yen, closing at 1.867 from 1.869 the previous day.

The Chinese Yuan closed at 38.2593, up 2.91 paisa from the previous session's finish of 38.2302.

The value of the Saudi Riyal increased by 12.05 paisa from its closing value of 74.49 the previous day to 74.61.

The value of the U.A.E. Dirham rose from 76.075 to 76.2 a day ago, a gain of 12.51 paisa.

The value of the rupee has increased by 6.11 rupees, or 2.18%, compared to the US dollar during the current fiscal year. In contrast, the value of the PKR has decreased by 19.1%, or 53.45 rupees, this calendar year.

The benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates remained constant at 21.77% and 22.02% in the money market.
