Govt to hold investment conference in Scotland

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Sunday that an investment conference would be held to strengthen Pakistan-Scotland collaboration in a variety of industries, including trade, investment, education, water management, wind, and solar technologies.

Shehbaz told reporters after meeting with Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf in London said he had fruitful conversations with a “young and energetic” first minister.

“We have agreed to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Scotland,” he said. He went on to say that Scotland’s 80,000-strong Pakistani diaspora was making a substantial contribution to its development and progress.

In response to a question about whether the UK’s National Crime Agency cleared his name in a money laundering case, Shehbaz stated that the NCA investigated the subject for two years and found him to be innocent with the grace of Almighty Allah.

“[Former Prime Minister] Imran Khan used all tactics and wasted state money as well as precious time to defame me,” he stated. “The NCA found nothing against me, and the British investigation agency has now given me a clean chit in this matter,” he added.

Shehbaz accused Imran Khan of being a liar who harmed his own supporters. He called the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) a “liar and a hypocrite from head to toe” who displayed “ingratitude” even towards his own supporters.

Shehbaz had already met Humza Yousaf, who had visited on him in London. Shehbaz congratulated the first minister on his victory, saying it demonstrated the good contribution of the British-Pakistani community to the growth of the United Kingdom.
