Gas supply from Wali field begins

The introduction of gas supplies into the SNGPL’s network from the OGDCL’s recently discovered gas field, Wali (Bettani), in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s district Lakki Marwat, began earlier this morning (Friday).

Last year, the Oil and Gas Development Corporation (OGDCL) discovered the Wali gas field. As a result, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Federal Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) instructed SNGPL to construct pipes for the injection of gas from the newly discovered gas field.

The gas flow from the Wali gas field will be treated at the OGDCL plant before being pumped into the gearbox system of Sui Northern.

The present gas supply flow rate from the gas field is 10 MMCFD, with a climb to 20 MMCFD predicted in the near future. The gas is delivered by a 50-kilometer-long high-pressure pipeline that connects OGDCL’s processing plant to the Sui Northern network in Kaka Khel, district Lakki Marwat. In addition, at the request of the OGDCL, the SNGPL built a 16-kilometer-long gathering line.

Despite security difficulties during pipeline construction, SNGPL was able to complete the 66-kilometer pipelines of 8-inch diameter from Wali Well to Kakakhel Valve Assembly in the lowest amount of time.

Both pipeline lengths, 16 kilometers from the well to the processing facility and 50 kilometers from the processing plant to the Kakakhel Valve Assembly, were successfully commissioned on June 14 and 15, respectively.

The timely completion of a pipeline construction project for gas injection, which has significant national significance due to the current energy crisis, was only made possible by the guidance of the company’s Board of Directors and current management, as well as the steadfast dedication and hard work of the SNGPL’s workforce.
