Federal Member Telecom Umar Malik Sent to Jail on Misconduct in Court

RAWALPINDI: Federal Member Telecom, Ministry of IT and Telecom Muhammad Umar Malik was arrested for showing misconduct in the courtroom during the case hearing.

According to the details, Civil Judge cum Judicial Magistrate Adil Sarwar Sial sentenced the member Prime Minister Task Force on IT & Telecom, Umar Malik with 15-day imprisonment and a Rs2,000 fine.

Muhammad Umar Malik was accused of inappropriate behavior in the court as he appeared before Judicial Magistrate Rawalpindi as a petitioner.

During the hearing, the court took notice of the misconduct and initiated a trial under Section 228. Judicial Magistrate Adil Sarwar Sial sentenced him for improper and defamatory behavior in the court and ordered his arrest.

According to the charge sheet available with Daily Ausaf, “Judicial Magistrate Rawalpindi Adil Sarwar Sial charged Muhammad Umer Malik s/o Malik Muhammad Ameen as follows: accused, on 01.06.2024, at about 08:30 AM, intentionally offered insult and caused interruption into the judicial proceedings, which were being carried out by the court by not complying with the order to button up your collar.

“The accused person further threatened and used derogatory words to the Presiding Officer as well as to the reader of this court, the charge sheet added.

“Thus, you have committed an offense punishable u/s 228 PPC, which is within the cognizance of this Court and I hereby direct that you accused persons to be tried by this Court for the above-said charge. 01.06.2024 Aut Judicial Magistrate Section 30, Rawalpindi,” Judge Adil Sarwar mentioned the charge sheet.

Federal Member Telecom was arrested from the courtroom and transferred to Adiala Jail as per the court order.
