Caretaker IT Minister Vows to Propel Pakistan's Telecom Sector with 5G Launch

In a bid to revolutionize Pakistan's telecom industry and foster a more conducive environment for economic growth, the caretaker Minister of IT has pledged to introduce 5G technology. This commitment was made during a pivotal meeting with Kan Terzuoglu, the Group Co-Chief Executive Officer of VEON Group.

Commending VEON Group's endeavors to ensure widespread technology and smartphone accessibility in Pakistan, the minister emphasized the government's dedication to providing top-notch telecom services. Dr. Umar Saif underscored that the enhancement of connectivity remains a paramount objective, and to achieve this, plans are underway to conduct a spectrum auction for the improvement of telecom services.

Amir Ibrahim, the Chief Executive Officer of Jazz, also participated in the meeting. Dr. Umar Saif urged Jazz to channel investments into e-agriculture, e-education, and e-health initiatives in Pakistan, aligning with the broader goal of advancing technological integration across various sectors.
