TikTok Complies with 93.5% of Pakistan Government's Video Removal Requests

Islamabad: In a bid to uphold community standards and comply with local regulations, TikTok has actively collaborated with the Pakistan.

Telecommunication Authority (PTA) over the past six months, as detailed in its latest transparency report.

From July to December 2023, TikTok received 303 requests from the Pakistani government, resulting in the removal of 93.5% of the reported content.

This proactive approach underscores TikTok’s commitment to addressing concerns raised by local authorities regarding inappropriate or sensitive content on its platform.

According to the ‘Government Removal Request Report’ on TikTok's website, a total of 12,392 pieces of content were taken down due to violations of community guidelines, while 2,126 pieces were removed for breaching local laws. Additionally, TikTok deactivated 270 accounts for violating community guidelines and 59 accounts for violating local laws during this period.

TikTok’s latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Q4 2023 further highlights its stringent content moderation efforts globally, boasting a 99.5% proactive removal rate of violating content. This proactive stance aims to maintain a safe and respectful environment for its users worldwide, including in Pakistan.
