WhatsApp to introduce custom chat themes for iOS users

WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is set to introduce an innovative feature to its iOS app: custom chat themes.

This enhancement aims to provide users with a more personalised messaging experience and will be available in an upcoming update.

According to WABetaInfo, a reliable source for WhatsApp developments, the messaging app has submitted a new update through the TestFlight beta program, advancing the version to 24.11.10.70. This update includes the much-anticipated chat theme feature, which focuses on chat bubble colour customisation.

“With this enhancement, WhatsApp aims to provide users with an even more personalised messaging experience, allowing them to select their preferred colour for chat bubbles,” WABetaInfo reported.

Currently under development, the feature is being refined further. The future update will include a section where users can choose the default chat theme of the app.

This will be similar to the existing option for selecting the app’s main branding colour, introduced in the WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.1.10.70 update. Users will be able to select a new colour and wallpaper for the default chat theme from a range of five different colours.

Once a colour is selected, it will automatically become the default chat theme, adjusting both the wallpaper and bubble colours accordingly. This introduction of diverse colour options will provide users with greater aesthetic freedom for their chats.

It’s important to note that any changes made by users will only affect their own chats and will not alter the appearance of the recipient’s chats.
