Toyota to Launch an Affordable Electric Car by 2026

Toyota announced this week at its 2023 financial results news conference that it will launch ten battery electric vehicle (BEV) models in the premium, SUV, compact, sedan, commercial, MPV, and sports segments by 2026.

CEO Koji Sato suggested hatchback EVs for ASEAN’s expanding markets. The sedan segment lacked well-defined images, signaling that the developing market product is still in development.

In April, Toyota Vice President Hiroki Nakajima announced the introduction of ten new electric vehicles and the development of a new EV manufacturing factory. New platforms, powertrains, and technological equipment would be used in the 2026 EV vehicles, according to Sato’s address. The Japanese automaker expects to sell 1.5 million BEVs by 2026.

Toyota announced this week that it will restructure its electric vehicle (EV) business by dissolving its zero-emissions vehicle (ZEV) unit and establishing a battery electric vehicle (BEV) factory, a dedicated company that will accelerate EV development and commercial growth.

According to the firm, it plans to provide a variety of environmentally friendly powertrain options. EV development, on the other hand, will now take precedence.
