Three-year data shows more than half of CSS exam candidates failed in Urdu

In the National Assembly on Friday, the presentation included information about the candidates who took part in the Central Superior Services (CSS) Examination over the past three years.

These candidates consisted of both those who passed and those who failed in various subjects during the years 2019, 2020, and 2021. The data revealed that a minimum of 54.53% of candidates failed in Pakistan’s national language, Urdu, over the three-year period.

During the National Assembly session, a written response from the Establishment Division was presented, containing detailed information about the candidates.

As per the information provided by the Establishment Division, the failure rate in Urdu was 30% in 2019, which increased to 59% in 2020 and further escalated to 73% in 2021. The overall failure rate during the last three years was 54.53%.

According to the report, out of 49,500 candidates, 45,800 failed in essay writing over the three-year period. In 2019, 13,328 out of 14,205 candidates failed in essay writing, while only 6% managed to pass the subject.

In 2020, the report stated that 17,735 out of 18,387 candidates failed in essay writing, with a passing rate of just 4%. Similarly, in 2021, at least 14,760 out of 16,887 candidates failed in the subject, resulting in a success rate of 13%, while 87% of candidates failed.

Regarding the success rate in English, it was informed that 35,000 out of 49,500 candidates failed in the subject in 2019, with a failure rate of 73%. This rate increased to 39% in 2020 and reached 92% in 2021.

In the subject of Pakistan Affairs, the failure rate remained at 37% in 2019, rose to 71% in 2020, and decreased to 46% in 2021. In Islamiat, 18% of candidates failed in 2019, 51% in 2020, and 81% in 2021.
