In Thursday's interbank trading, the value of the Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by 77.85 paisa against the US dollar, finishing at PKR 283.43 from PKR 282.65 per USD the day before.

The intraday high (bid) and low (ask) for the local unit were 283.25 and 283.25, respectively.

The local unit lost one rupee on the open market when the dollar was quoted by exchange companies at 281.5 for purchasing and 284.5 for selling, as opposed to the closing prices of 280.5 for buying and 283.5 for selling.

Moreover, the PKR gained 6.26 rupees, or 2.23%, versus the US dollar at the end of October.

The PKR depreciated 2.35 rupees in relation to the Euro, closing at 300.43 as opposed to 298.08, as compared to other major currencies.

The British Pound closed at 344.74, up 1.74 rupees from the previous day's closing of 343.01.

The Swiss franc closed at 313.13, up 2.49 rupees from the previous session's close of 310.63.

PKR lost 1.58 paisas against the Japanese yen, closing at 1.884 vs 1.869 the previous day.

The Chinese Yuan closed at 38.7251, up 10.85 paisa from the previous session's closing of 38.6166.

The value of the Saudi Riyal increased by 21.25 paisa from its closing value of 75.34 the previous day to 75.55.

The value of the U.A.E. Dirham rose from 76.955 to 77.166 a day ago, a gain of 21.09 paisa.

The value of the rupee has increased by 2.57 rupees, or 0.91%, compared to the US dollar during the current fiscal year. However, the value of the PKR has decreased by 20.11%, or 56.99 rupees, this calendar year.

The benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates in the money market decreased by 25 basis points to 21.5% and 21.75%.
