The Government is Set to Present a Budget Exceeding Rs18 Trillion Today.
Islamabad: The incumbent government is ready to present its first growth-oriented federal budget for the fiscal year 2024–25, with an estimated outlay exceeding Rs18 trillion, on June 12 (Wednesday).

The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, will present the budget before the National Assembly. The budget has been formulated considering the current domestic and international economic challenges. It aims to address people's hardships, transform the agriculture sector, promote information technology (IT), boost exports, foster industrial growth, and support businesses.

The government is committed to delivering a pro-people, business-friendly, and progressive budget. Policies will focus on fiscal consolidation to manage the budget deficit. Key elements will include fiscal management, revenue mobilization, economic stabilization and growth measures, reducing non-development expenditures, job creation, and implementing people-friendly policies for socioeconomic prosperity.

Social sector development and governance reforms to boost private sector investment will also be highlighted. On the revenue side, improvements in tax collection, broadening the tax base, and facilitating taxpayers are planned. Given the strong revenue growth during the current fiscal year (2023–24), the government is likely to set a revenue collection target of over Rs12 trillion for 2024–25.

Preparations for the budget announcement have been ongoing in full swing, adhering to prescribed timelines. The budget is being prepared in close coordination with all relevant departments and ministries, ensuring smooth budget-related events, including the presentation in Parliament and the launch of the Economic Survey.
