The Suki Kinari Hydropower Project in Pakistan’s northwestern region completed dam capping last week, ushering it into a new development phase.

The successful capping of the Kunhar River concrete dam would help forward the construction of a power station under CPEC in the Mansehra area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Chen Jiangbo, Deputy Manager of Suki Kinari Hydropower Project of China Gezhouba Group Company Ltd, which invests in and implements the project, described the completion as a key milestone for the 884-megawatt hydropower project and attributed the achievement to the joint efforts made by Chinese and Pakistani constructors despite multiple challenges.
