Rs1.5 billion Sindh Smart Surveillance System launched

On Sunday, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah officially launched the Sindh Smart Surveillance System (S4) project, which is worth Rs1.4 billion. The primary objective of this project is to enhance security measures across the province by installing surveillance cameras at 40 toll plazas. This strategic move aims to establish a comprehensive and integrated municipal security solution, covering all major entry and exit points that connect with other cities within the region.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Sassui Toll Plaza, which is the first of the 40 locations where surveillance facilities will be installed. This toll plaza serves as a crucial connection point between Karachi and Thatta.

In attendance at the ceremony were notable figures, including provincial minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, as well as officials from the National Radio and Telecommunication (NRTC), and other distinguished guests. The implementation of the S4 project signifies a significant step towards bolstering security and monitoring systems throughout the province, ensuring safer and more secure travel for its residents and visitors alike.

The S-4 project incorporates strategically positioned cameras at 40 toll plazas along the highways, supplemented by the cutting-edge Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology. This advanced system aims to combat crime and terrorism by efficiently capturing and analysing licence plate data and employing facial recognition capabilities.
Beyond its primary role in crime prevention and detection throughout the province of Sindh, the S4 project plays a significant part in supporting the vision of the Smart City project, which is steadfast in its pursuit of becoming a reality.

During the event, the Chief Minister expressed that this solution would facilitate comprehensive monitoring of entry and exit points across Sindh, ensuring reliable security while seamlessly integrating state-of-the-art technologies with the existing Command and Control Centre at the Central Police Office in Karachi. This endeavor marks a significant step towards strengthening security measures and advancing technological capabilities in the region.
