Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan finalise inter-regional railway track

The Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (UAP) trilateral railway track project’s route has been decided, and its joint protocol will be signed tomorrow.

The route was finalised during a high-level meeting with officials from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan, according to details.

According to a news release, the main goal of the UAP project was to establish a missing rail link by connecting Uzbekistan railroads with Pakistan railways via the Termiz-Mazar e Sharif-Logar-Kharlachi line.

The UAP railway project would not only ease regional, transit, and bilateral trade among participating countries, but it would also improve people-to-people ties throughout the region.

The line would support passenger and freight services, as well as regional trade and economic growth.

The parties also agreed on a timetable for performing technical studies, funding sources, and other critical components of the project’s early execution.

The parties praised the competent work of the three railways’ specialists in reaching an agreement on the final route and its execution methods.
