Pakistan to install bird repellent system at airports

To improve flight safety, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has decided to install bird-repellant systems at the country’s airports.

According to PCAA officials, the device will be implemented at the airports of Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore to prevent bird strikes.

The aviation regulator has requested Expressions of Interest (EOI) from reputable organisations and individuals with experience in wildlife management, preferably at airports, in order to prepare a feasibility report in this respect.

According to sources, the tenders will be open on September 28.

According to PCAA sources, this technology will be placed at Lahore airport in the first phase, reducing the number of bird strikes.

The device will be implemented at both Karachi and Lahore airports’ main and secondary runways.

Bird strikes have repeatedly happened at the country’s airports as a result of a lack of sanitation in the surrounding populated areas, posing a major risk not only to aircraft but also to the lives of passengers.
