Pakistan, Qatar to continue broadening their bilateral ties: PM

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed hope that Pakistan and the State of Qatar would continue to widen and strengthen their bilateral relationship, notably in the commerce and investment sectors.

The prime minister paid a farewell call to the Ambassador of the State of Qatar Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani at the PM Office, according to a press release from the PM Office Media Wing.

The prime minister, while expressing delight with the two nations’ long-standing brotherly relations, praised Ambassador Thani’s sterling commitment to further developing the fraternal connections.

The prime minister emphasized the recent visit of a delegation from the Qatar Investment Authority as evidence of Qatar’s interest in investing in various sectors of the Pakistani economy.

He emphasized the increased frequency of high-level engagements between the two countries, as well as collaboration in the domains of food security, energy, information technology, mining, and defence.

The prime minister wished Ambassador Al-Thani the best of luck in his future endeavors. Ambassador Al-Thani commended Pakistan’s government and people for their kindness and warmth, which made his visit there genuinely memorable.

Ambassador Thani came to Pakistan in the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and will leave this month when his diplomatic mandate is completed.
