Nepra okays further hike in power tariff

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Monday approved another Rs1.24 per unit increase in power tariffs for the fiscal year 2022-23’s third-quarter adjustments.

This money will be recovered from customers in July, August, and September.

Furthermore, save for lifeline consumers and KE users, the rise in power tariff will apply to all consumer categories.

The hike in power bills will add Rs46 billion to the already burdened masses, who are struggling to make ends meet in the face of growing inflation and a failing economy.

Separately, on July 5, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approved a monthly fuel costs adjustment (FCA) hike of Rs1.90 per unit.

This cash will be recovered from customers in the month of August.
