NEPRA okays another hike in power tariff

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved a monthly fuel charges adjustment (FCA) hike of Rs1.90 per unit.

This cash will be recovered from customers in the month of August.

Furthermore, save for lifeline consumers and KE users, the rise in power tariff will apply to all consumer categories.

The hike in power bills will add Rs23 billion to the already burdened masses, who are struggling to make ends meet in the face of growing inflation and a failing economy.

Separately, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) raised energy prices by Rs1.25 per unit Wednesday due to third-quarter adjustments for fiscal year 2022-23.

This money will be recovered from consumers during a three-month period in July, August, and September 2023.

Furthermore, the increase in electricity costs will affect all consumer groups except lifeline and KE subscribers.
