Nepra further jacks up electricity tariff

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) raised energy costs by Rs1.25 per unit on Tuesday, in yet another power tariff increase.

According to the power regulatory authority’s notification, NEPRA allowed an Rs1.25 per unit increase in electricity in response to the monthly fuel adjustment.

Customers must pay the additional amount in August.

Furthermore, the increase in electricity costs will affect all consumer groups except Lifeline and KE subscribers.

It is worth noting that the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) sought a power tariff hike on May 24 as part of a third-quarter adjustment.

Separately, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved an Rs0.5 per unit drop in the power cost for K-Electric customers on Friday.

According to a notification issued by the NEPRA, the K-Electric power rate was cut in April due to fuel cost adjustments (FCAs).
